Types of Grand Canyon South Rim Helicopter Tours

South Rim helicopter tours are definitely the very best way to enjoy the National Park. These flights easily pack into 30 minutes what might take days on the ground. There are a restricted number of trips to choose from, but all of them will leave you with a memorable canyon experience.

Grand Canyon National Park is located in Northern Arizona near the Utah border. The Park is approximately 5.5 hours from Las Vegas and the Phoenix-Scottsdale metro area.

There aren't any direct helicopter air flights to the South Rim from Vegas. You will have to bundle a helicopter excursion with either an airplane flight or tour bus ride. Personally, I suggest the aircraft option.

From Phoenix, I recommend you self-drive. Flights to Flagstaff are prohibitively costly. Besides, the drive up is quite beautiful, especially if you stopover in Sedona for lunch or as an overnight vacation spot.

This rim's trips leave from Grand Canyon Airport, AZ, which is minutes from the Park's front gates in the town of Tusayan. Three tour operators are based there: Grand Canyon Helicopters, Maverick Helicopters, and Papillon Helicopters

I recommend Papillon based upon their commitment to quality, safety and price.

National Park air space is rigorously controlled, so there is no below-the-rim or bottom-landing helicopter rides at the South Rim. For that, you'll need to depart from Vegas.

Here at South Rim, you have a basic flight as well as a deluxe one. Here are specifics:

Basic Chopper Tour. Leaves daily. Flies over Kaibab National Forest and enters the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest part of the canyon, before turning back at the North Rim. Flight time is a half hour.

Deluxe Chopper Tour. Identical to above except you do it in a state-of-the-art EcoStar 130. This airplane includes 25 percent more cabin space, theater-style seating, 180-degree windshield and a super-quiet ride.

I get a lot of queries about when you ought to fly. Morning is optimal. This is when the air is smoothest. You additionally get great visibility. And do dress for weather. Yes you will be in a helicopter the whole time. However, the canyon's climate is one of extremes. Lastly, don't forget to charge your smart phone or digital camera. Picture taking is unavoidable and you should make sure you've got a full charge.

South Rim tours are very popular activities. So much in fact that I am now recommending that travelers purchase them at least 72 hours or more ahead of time. I'm seeing a lot more sold-out trips nowadays, and, to be truthful, it is discouraging to show up at the airport and watch as others board their plane for the greatest show on earth.

Planning is everything, and so is finding the best deal. I tell family and friends to go straight to the web for the best rates. You can begin at Expedia and Travelocity but you're wasting time. Find the sites of the businesses running these tours. It's there where you'll discover bargains that can save you up to 30 percent

I'm a big fan of these helicopter rides. Nothing touches them when it comes to providing you the most canyon for the dollar. Plus they're great fun! So, as you schedule your canyon vacation, definitely add a helicopter trip to the mix. It'll definitely be the spotlight of your trip.

There's more to Singapore than urban glitz, like rambling in the rain forest of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Ride the Bullet Train to the magnificent city of Kyoto. Visit Hiroshima and the Peace Memorial Park. Castles, temples, gardens, the list of top destinations in Japan is too long for this article..

Some of its most impressive sights include the Grand Hotel, topped by the largest Classical Chinese roof in the world, the Shihlin Night Market, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial with the National Theater and Concert Hall located directly across from each other on the grounds. A popular day trip is Tailuge (Taroko Gorge), considered one of the natural wonders of the world.

Hong Kong - the Pearl of East and jewel of The Orient. Nathan Road is lined with shops, restaurants, nightspots and cheap places to stay. If you're in Hong Kong with the little ones, they'll probably appreciate Ocean Park (aquarium), Water World (swimming pools and water slides), and of course Disneyland. If you're in Hong Kong for more than a few days, then there's plenty of outlying islands to discover.

It is often said that for the traveler that has seen it all and done it all, there is still Katmandu, Nepal. And, that too is in Asia!

If you do not visit Asia, you will be missing not only a paradise of affordable travel, but the chance to see an alternative living location. For retirees, it is luxury living for pennies, not just getting by on their pension. Asia, a paradise experience is waiting for you.

Well, I?ve found a great site that sells great looking flags for not a lot of money and their shipping is super fast ? .

Now, for vacation ideas, I highly recommend Australia! Here are a few tips and facts to help you on your way to this vacation paradise.
Money
You should not carry too much cash on you when you travel here. That said, you are not going to be able to use a credit card or write a check when you are visiting Australia. A sensible way to make sure that you have enough money is to get travelers checks. This is a way that you will be able to get what you need and then some and also have the added security of knowing that you are covered if they are lost or stolen. Australian currency is decimal with the dollar as the basic unit. There are exchange shops where you can cash in and get the local currency that you will need.

Climate
The climate is moderate and there is not as hot as some people might thing. The temperate will depend on what time of the year you are there. Usually you will find nice temperatures and a great weather pattern. You will want to bring lightweight clothing for your trip and a couple of sweaters or sweat shirts just in case.

Customs
Laws prohibit any drugs, firearms, or any other foreign objects. They have these laws to protect the wildlife and citizens of their country. Unlike some foreign countries, there is not limit on the amount of Australian cash that may be brought into or taken out of Australia.
Tipping
Unlike the United States, tipping is not expected and services charges are not automatically added to hotel and restaurants. For any special services, a tip of ten percent is good. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip, but will appreciate anything that is offered to them. Feel free to tip when you feel you?ve had great service.

Information centers
You will find local tourist information and free advice in most places in Australia. Look for the signs that have an "I" on them. This will guide you to get the information that you need. Have a great vacation!

Visiting The Past Called Alcatraz

Six Flags Marine World is known as not just an amusement park, but also an animal park. The park offers a wide variety of roller coasters as well as some more traditional amusement rides. When visitors are done with the rides they can then enjoy animal exhibits as well as shows that feature the parks animals. Six Flags Marine World is in a league of its own, partially because there is great care and attention paid to ensure this, but also because there is simply nothing to compare the theme park to. Marine World is in the business of entertaining, providing a fun environment, and putting together a little bit of everything that people love to see.

Marine World began as a nonprofit animal park in Redwood City, California in 1968. In 1985 the park relocated about 55 miles away to Vallejo, California and thought the move necessitated a name change to Marine World Africa USA. The old location became known as Redwood Shores. In 1996 after losing money and poor profits since it's move in 1985, Six Flags purchased the park at which time the park attendance grew. Six Flags added some theme park attractions that were not related to animals such as the roller coasters to draw in bigger crowds. Over the first few years Six Flags Inc. added several major roller coasters, putting the park more in like with the Six Flags line of parks and so the parks name was then changed to Six Flags Marine World. Premier, now known as Six Flags owned the park for several years before adding the Six Flags name to the park name.

The park has not abandoned its animal roots. The park continues to add animals, exhibits, and improve existing exhibits to make the park more attractive and visitor friendly. It's true that the park has become not just an animal park, but also an amusement park. Six Flags added huge roller coasters such as Medusa, Vertical Velocity, and Roar. The park is a haven for the Looney Tunes characters that entertain old and young alike. Medusa draws in many customers because it is the parks biggest ride and is the only floorless roller coaster in the regional area. Medusa is also notable because the first drop is 150 feet and the ride lasts over four minutes. The newest ride is known as the V2 and has been responsible for bringing in a lot of traffic to the park, as well. The Roar roller coaster is popular because it is the only wooden roller coaster in the park. With all of the additions of great exhibits, awesome rides, and a one of kind atmosphere the Marine World theme park brings in major revenue to the city of Vallejo. Not only is the park popular in and around Vallejo, the park is a competitor with the other big amusement park in the area, which is San Francisco Bay's Paramount Great American that is located in Santa Clara.

The park has been a huge success because it is one of a kind. No other park has been able to combine animals and amusement rides the way that Marine World has been able to. The great thing about the park is that it truly offers something for everyone. Even if members of the family do not like roller coasters, they can enjoy other amusement park rides and the animal exhibits some family fun attractions are the White Water Safari, Monkey Business, and Wave Jumper. Marine World also features many live shows and special events that will have the old and young alike excited and entertained for their entire visit. The park is considered the only one of its kind in the United States, offering more rides and attractions than any other theme park in California and perhaps even in the United States!

Not only does the park offer one of a kind experiences, it also offers great prices for families to enjoy themselves without breaking the bank. When you purchase your tickets online you can get a one-day admission for $39.99, when you buy a kid online pass you'll pay just $29.99, otherwise general admission is $49.99 for adults and $29.99 for children 48 inches and under. While these aren't admission prices that you would want to pay if you were going to visit every day, they are well worth the price of family entertainment every now and again.

If you'll be traveling to the area to visit Six Flags Marine World, you'll also want to think about where you will stay during your trip to Vallejo. There are many affordable options right nearby so that you will not have to worry about finding your way to the theme park or your hotel after a long day of fun and entertainment. Whether you're old or young or have a little of both in your group you'll find your lodging options in and around Vallejo comfortable and affordable. Some great lodging choices may be:

The Holiday Inn Napa Valley Gateway
1000 Fairgrounds Dr.
Vallejo, California 94589
(800) 533-5733
(707) 644-1200

A trip to Six Flags Marine World will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. If you live around the area you'll definitely make time to visit the park every year to visit your favorite attractions and see if there is anything new to entertain and delight you. Even if you don't live in the area you'll find yourself wanting to return again and again because you just can't find this type of theme park anywhere else in the world. If you love roller coasters and classic amusement park rides and you also have a love of animals big and small, you'll find that the Six Flags Marine World is your favorite theme park to visit.

9th Fina World Swimming Championships At The Men Arena, Manchester

The MEN Arena in Manchester is best known as a pop and event venue hosting such acts as Kylie Minogue and the Rolling Stones and so was the unlikely venue for the World Swimming Championships held in Manchester 9-13 April 2008.

Not only was this the first time that a swimming competition of its kind was held in the UK but The MEN Arena was the first events venue in the UK to host such an event.

Although not an aquatic centre the MEN Arena was able to facilitate this event because two giant swimming pools, each 25m in length and holding 1000 litres of water were constructed for the duration of the Championships. The spanish multinational company AstralPool was employed by FINA, official partner and sponsor of the championships to build the pools and in order to construct the pools on time it required 3 shifts of 50 people working 24 hours. Water was supplied by United Utilities and each pool took 56 hours to fill and six days to heat to a temperature between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Back in March 2007, AstralPool also built two pools for the FINA World Swimming Championships held in Melbourne and as in Manchester each pool held 1000 litres of water. During televised coverage of the Championships in Manchester, BBC swimming pundit Sharron Davies, (former Commonwealth and Olympic medal winner) told viewers how after the Melbourne meet the water was used to feed the plants in the nearby Botanical Gardens. Australia was and still is experiencing their worst draught in 8 years so once all the chemicals had been removed from the water it had provided a much needed drink for the plants.

The Championships saw 17 world records being smashed and was particularly successful for the UK team who managed a medal tally of 24 (3 Gold, 10 Silver and 11 Bronze) and puts them in good stead for the Beijing Olympic Games in August.

The next event at the MEN Arena is Celine Dion in Concert beginning on 2nd May.
